The Writing Process in the Digital Age

Picture
CTAP presented by
Kathy Nelson, Sandra Averill, Lynie Tener

We know that writing well is foundational to student success as it enhances critical thinking, metacognition, and questioning while offering opportunities to collaborate. Writing can enhance student learning in all content courses and it can play an important role in inquiry-based learning. The writing process: prewriting, drafting, editing, proofreading, and publishing, enables students to break writing into chunks while mirroring how authors work. Student engagement is increased as they produce writing for authentic audiences. With the inclusion of digital tools, students can access electronic devices to enhance each stage of the writing process. This CTAP will provide teachers with specific strategies, both traditional and digital, to develop each stage of the writing process from pre-writing to publishing. Participants must bring a charged laptop and/or iPad.
